I use very small amount of water, so the colors I mix are really thick, like gouache paint. I also use very small brush xD it's simply easier to control little bit at the time. The way I do it is quite time taking, but I guess it pays off when I see the finished and detailed painting I've done.
With aquarelles I'm pretty bad, because mistakes are so hard to fix :'D
Ha ha, that makes sense. I actually started doing a similar method, where I'd mix the paint while it was still liquified like gouache. I like to use a lot of water though, so I let it dry first. It seems to be working pretty well now, ha ha.
But yeah, there's always a certain amount of fear going in, because if you choose the wrong colour, it's over. For that reason I tend not to paint skys. Ha ha.
Opinions are welcome, I myself maybe prefer these a bit more aswell, but I gotta say it's for the colours, haha <3 red&oranges turned out slightly more challenging, what comes to making colours vivid and bright
Aaaa I think the blue gets darker with ivysaur and venusaur in official art, but bulbasaur is very often coloured green in other official art/gamecard arts I've seen, and my bulba figurine has green body too. My intention wasn't to be slave to official looks though, I just tried to mix such colours that look best to me
And thanks, I'm glad venusaur turned out so good, he isn't as ugly as some draw him to be
I find a lot of people don't choose Bulbasaur because they don't want to eventually end up with Venusaur due to his looks, but you've definitely flattered him. Really, this is the best picture I've ever seen of him.
Thank you so much for such kind words~ I remember I did choose bulbasaur when I first played the game, I was, uhh, maybe 9-10 years old? I didn't understand most of the stuff because I had only had english classes for one year and that's why I was awful trainer in pokémon Red ahaha. Uh, anyway, I thought bulbasaur was best choise after charmander, and when my savefile was erased I started over with charmander. Didn't think back then that venusaur looks were very great either, but I blame the official art from which I always referenced for drawings and such, and it gave very narrow picture of venusaur : D aghh look at me ramble, pardon >:
Yupp one reason was, because I was fairly bad at pkmn Red (I didn't even know ATK, DEF, SP. ATK ad DEF meant in the game gods I only leveled them up randomly D: ) so anyway with bulbasaur going with team first gyms really are piece of cake. They always set up rock/ground and water gyms in the beginning.
Oh and don't worry I tend to do the same thing, talking about especially pokemon and zelda stuff so srsly, if someone happens to listen haha
TY I was going to go for flat colours because I drew quite a bunch last night, from 001-025 :0 I thought flats would be nice and easy, but then I went and coloured these with paint, so I at least have to do rest of the starters in same manner ;D I guess I'll be trying different colours for rest of the pokes, markers and digital colouring and such.
