I'm wondering how you mix your colours; I have trouble getting enough pigment in my colours, so they end up being really washed out.

I use very small amount of water, so the colors I mix are really thick, like gouache paint. I also use very small brush xD it's simply easier to control little bit at the time. The way I do it is quite time taking, but I guess it pays off when I see the finished and detailed painting I've done.

With aquarelles I'm pretty bad, because mistakes are so hard to fix :'D

Ha ha, that makes sense. I actually started doing a similar method, where I'd mix the paint while it was still liquified like gouache. I like to use a lot of water though, so I let it dry first. It seems to be working pretty well now, ha ha.

But yeah, there's always a certain amount of fear going in, because if you choose the wrong colour, it's over. For that reason I tend not to paint skys. Ha ha.
