Love the contrast between the two subjects, especially the amount of colors and shapes on the.. uh.. thing, against the relative simplicity of the girl. Obviously not the most polished artwork, but a cool enough design that it really doesn't matter.
Cool use of gradients. The tone of the picture along with the grainy texture and the un-erased lead lines make it all feel like patchwork for some reason to me. That's at least what my head associates it with.
All the lines and the values in the background definitely grounds it.
OH HEY I love what you did here with the colouring! Gradients are normally terrible but you made them work to their advantage here. Hurray derelict urban surroundings <3<3
Composition-wise I would've loved if the girl's legs were a bit more visible, since it cuts off a bit of the mecha it would've been a bit better for balance~~ but always understandable when the paper is not enough for your drawing :C
I agreee gradients are usually the first thing you discover in photoshop and abuse it shamelessly although it mostly makes things look like crap haha (or, maybe it was just me, cough)
Yeah it bothered me too x__x it was my fault though, I didn't intend to do anything else but a random mecha design, but then buildings started to appear, and better ideas, and then I wish I'd drawn the girl and mecha just a tiny bit further from the edge. Some other definition of edges, like if I just brutely would crop the picture more could've made it more stable, but I couldn't kill my darlings when I really wanted to include the characters in the picture from head to toes.
..and goddammit, this picture is so bizarre, in a good way. I would totally watch a series that looked like this. These guys would make a great concept and characters.
